Let’s start off with the big news: Advent in Zagreb is the best one in Europe! And no, this isn’t exaggerating – this is award given to Zagreb from European Best Destinations. In tough competition against twenty most beautiful European cities, with voters from 176 different countries, Zagreb managed to get on the top. Even the Daily Mail states: “Forget Vienna and Prague, head to Zagreb”. Apparently, our capital makes great progress each year, offering inspiring ambience to visitors.

First “must” on the list is Zrinjevac park. Christmas spirit here is absolute, leaving you with unspeakable joy afterwards. Full-scale music program is organized daily, but also artists selling their ornaments, smell of freshly mulled wine which fills the air while you’re eating traditional Croatian food and enjoying the old music pavilion. Think about trying horseback riding on Fiaker, it’s an uncommon experience.

We strongly recommend ice park on King Tomislav Square, for those with a more sporty attitude. For many people, this is the symbol of Advent in Zagreb.

“Fooling around” is a relatively new event on Zagreb city streets, mostly in Kurelčeva and Tomićeva street. The idea is to offer gastronomical, Christmas specialties in a fun setting – and this is the most popular event among citizens of Zagreb.

There is also Advent on European Square, famous for exhibitors from Italy, Slovenia and some other countries. Choir is singing here after the midnight mass on Kaptol. And live nativity scene is becoming a tradition on Kaptol, right next to our beautiful Cathedral.
